TecnoMETAL Structural Analysis is a pre and post processor of finite element solvers that use TecnoMETAL/CAD as a graphic input interface.You can use the internal solver (XfinestSG) or communicate with SAP2000.It allows the design of schematic steel structures through a mathematical model with the finite elements.
Within TecnoMETAL there are the following standards for the structure verification: CNR10011, Euro Code 3 (EC3), AISC, ABNT NBR; the following standards for loads application IBC2006, 2008 Technical Standards for Construction (NTC2008). The calculation and verification settings of the structure are done in the integrated environment of TecnoMETAL, where you can choose the reference standard, the units of measurement to define the loads that can be modified at any time during the verification, the importance factor of the building according to its use, safety coefficients and other parameters according to the chosen standard.
Calculation and verification settings are based on the chosen standard, the default values are those that comply with the standard and can be customized. Among the parameters can be found: the choice of structural typology; structural factors related to the plasticization capacity of the structure; project spectra that can be completely redefined by user for IBC2006 and NTC2008 with custom spectra; choice of modal analysis type. For AISC standard, it is possible to choose between the 2005 and the 2010 versions. In the NTC2008 standard, it is possible to perform the verifications according to the resistances hierarchy for the “framed” structural types, "with diagonal concentric braces", "with concentric V braces"," with eccentric braces ".
Constraints and loads are inserted in a CAD environment. The definition of the loads takes place in the integrated TecnoMETAL environment or directly in the CAD environment. The loads can be of concentrated type, impressed displacements, linear, superficial and thermal, after having defined them it is possible to insert them into the model. The constraints can be with blocked degrees of freedom or compliant by assigning an elastic stiffness.
The internal modeler creates a structure model with the finite elements according to the design of the structure drawn in CAD. The mathematical model can be represented in a three-dimensional unifilar visualization in which nodes or elements numbers can be highlighted. The solver is able to completely solve the structure based on the setup of the adopted standard. It is thus possible to visualize the nodal displacements, the modal deformations, the binding reactions, the load pattern on the beams, the rods stress diagrams in the elementary load conditions, in their combinations and envelopes.
After the model solution, it is possible to request a global verification of all steel elements and to obtain the colour strip visualization of the verification results in a unifilar model. In this way, you will get information on the validity of the sizing and the opportunity to make corrections in geometry or materials. There is a simplified display with green and red colours to highlight unchecked beams. Modified profiles in order to comply with the verifications are then reported in the CAD environment to simplify the drawing update.
Once the model has been resolved, it is possible to verify the connections with Euro Code 3 (EC3), AISC, ABNT NBR standards. The connection verification module allows to perform an interactive and versatile design of steel connections in the TecnoMETAL database or to create new ones by updating the same database. The data input interface of the connection is in common with the other modules and allows to enter in detail the geometry and materials characteristics. To facilitate the design of the connection, you have profiles, connections (attachments, splices and base plates) and materials (steels, welds and bolts) databases. Stressing actions come directly from the model with the finite elements but can also be entered manually or imported.
The calculation report can be printed in multiple languages and units of measurement. The calculation report is in HTML format, in order to provide a flexible customizable base. Preset reports are available where the paragraphs are related to the finished model or boundary reactions or to the verification of the connections.
It allows you to extract the bills of materials and bolts from the 3d model.All lists can be customized and exported to Excel format. There are many types of lists such as: all elements of the model, profile type, bolt list, cutting list, etc.
TecnoMETAL allows you to create a structure according to BIM logic, so you can share the models with other 3D software such as Revit, Inventor, Solidworks, PTC CREO Modeling, Esain, Smartplan, Naviswork. You can create IFC, STP, PML, SDNF, DWF 3D files.
TecnoMETAL also contains a number of extremely useful commands such as sheet metal nesting, DXF file creation from CAM files, and vice versa, creating bent profile CAM files and dividing welded profiles into plates, searching for and checking identical cam files, creating families for Revit, export list of necessary treatments (with division between cuts, holes ...), increase or decrease of holes diameter directly in the CAM file.
TecnoMETAL allows you to insert chamfers and cuts in both the plates and the profiles. It also allows to insert and indicate the type of welding. The welding can be marked to obtain a list with information on the type and material required. The welding preparations inserted are in the cam file to facilitate the fabrication.
TecnoMETAL performs the automated marking of the entire model. It is possible to configure the marking so that the name of the marks and positions is alphanumeric. Also, it is possible to perform a marking according to the AISC standard. Within the marking subassemblies can be created. It is possible to do the marking with all the marks at quantity 1, this marking is required when it is necessary to trace the 100% of the structure, in addition the marks can be renamed in 2d drawing automatically and we can view them inside the 3d model.
From the 3D Model are automatically obtained the sketches for the production and the assembly views. It is also possible to obtain a table of connections designed with the 3d Connections macro. Extraction settings can be customized. It is possible to insert 2D perspective drawings including mark, position, and bolt information. Detail drawings can be generated in two ways: Single Drawing = one piece per drawing and Multi Drawing = in which the designer selects and inserts single elements.
Macros are tools that greatly facilitate the modeling work and allow you to include automatically elements, such as: wireframes, connections, braces, security stair, sailor type stairs, spiral stairs, handrails, towers, purlins, bridges, curtain walls, porches, steps, circular platforms, piping supports, tie rods, turnbuckles, hoppers, rectangular and polygonal pylons, etc.
In addition to all the traditional types of profiles, it is also possible to register composite profiles, cast-in profiles, tubes with connections for spatial structure, variable section profiles, welded tubes, profiles for aluminium structures and generic profiles where the user can register any desired profile geometry. It is possible to propagate a change to all equal parts or just to the selected parts.
TecnoMETAL, contains a series of security controls that are important in the modelling phase. There are a number of commands that can automatically delete the errors, recreate groups, and automatically delete elements that are no longer needed and that cause problems by making the project bigger than necessary. There are also commands that verify the marks and positions and notify in case of inconsistencies (essential when revising the project). It is also possible to verify the connections through the insert connection macro. The interferences can be checked by means of a specific command, and overlapping plates and bolts can be eliminated automatically.
The Sketches are a CAM files and contain all the information for the fabrication and also for CNC machines. The sketches can be displayed on the computer and it is possible to set up the display. The CAM file can be exported as DXF, PDF, DWG, NC and DSTV file. It is possible to create a CAM file from a bent profile as a plate development, welded or composite, it is possible to create a CAM file from a tube with cuts and you can also import the CAM file to scale as a file DWG.
It is possible to insert more than 1000 automatic combinations of connections of that can be saved in the database to be reused in other models.There is a specific option for welded and bolted joints. After inserting a connection into the model, you can modify the connection and decide whether to propagate the same modification to all the identical connections in the model. The connections inserted through the macro can be verified by entering the constraints.
The TecnoMETAL database comes complete with a series of information such as profiles, bolts, connections, materials, treatments, mechanical elements, etc. Databases can be shared on a network so that all team designers can have access to the same data. You can also copy information from one database to another. All information entered in the database can be modified or new data can be added.
